Review adverbial clauses of time with a quizlet.

2. READ. Skim the document below. Answer the questions.

“Skim” means look at a document quickly. To skim, first read the HEADINGS. Headings are names of pages and important ideas on pages. Sometimes HEADINGS are big or written in dark color. This is called “bold.” Next, look for the first sentence in a paragraph. Does the sentence give you the most important idea in the paragraph? If it does give you the most important idea, it is a TOPIC SENTENCE. Usually HEADINGS and first or topic sentences in paragraphs tell us the most important ideas, not the details. Skim for HEADINGS and topic sentences to understand everything in the document quickly. They give us an overview. They help us find what we want quickly. We can read the details later.

After you SKIM the document, go back and find the answers to the questions below. You shouldn’t need to read the whole document slowly.
